2016 - Sayadaw U Pandita passed away on April 16 at 94 yrs old. His entire life manifested as the embodiment of the Buddha’s teaching. Sayadawgyi was always concerned with his students' present and future welfare and advised them accordingly, right up until his death. While he is surely missed, Sayadawgyi left an extensive legacy of talks, books, highly trained teachers and most importantly, thousands of meditators who have benefited greatly from his skillful teachings. Fortunately, Panditarama is in the good hands of his most senior disciples. They continue to teach and give retreats in accordance with the high standards emphasized by Sayadawgyi.
The Forest Center is now a fully matured meditation center with conditions conducive for local and foreign practitioners. Due to Sayadawgyi’s far reaching vision along with generous donations and efforts by volunteers, Panditarama has become one of the most supportive centers available for serious meditation practice.
Annual Dhamma Family Gathering
Since 2010 the Panditarama Meditation Center in Yangon has held the annual Panditarama Dhamma Family Gathering. The meeting is an opportunity for Sayadaw U Pandita’s followers from
Burma and abroad to gather for Dhamma talks and discussions about our Sasana work.
Representatives from Panditarama Meditation Centers in Myanmar, as well as those from the international sister meditation centers, attend and share vital sasana information. The Gathering
highlights the late Venerable Sayadaw U Pandita’s supportive and inspiring leadership, which has contributed to the successful establishment of meditation centers around the world. It is also an opportunity for the
senior monks to meet and discuss how to continue Sayadaw U Pandita’s Dhamma mission.
The Panditarama Meditation Center in Yangon will hold the annual Family Gathering in February following the retreat at the Forest Center.

"Freedom Within" by Sayadaw U Pandita
Saddhamma Foundation has helped one of Sayadaw U Pandita's students prepare the book "Freedom Within"
for publication. Just completed in the wake of the Venerable Sayadaw U Pandita’s passing, it is based on his Dhamma talks given at Tathagata Meditation Center in San Jose, California. The book serves as an excellent introduction to Satipatthana Vipassana Meditation as well as offers deeper understanding to experienced yogis. Although his passing away is an incalculable loss, The Venerable Sayadaw U Pandita continues in our midst, teaching and guiding us in the Buddha’s way through his valuable utterances of Dhamma such as those transcribed in this wonderful new book.
